Are You Missing Some Pounds Yet, or Are You Missing Out on Free Fitness?

Kudos to our first Eastland Garden Exercise Group attendees. We had a great time in 72 degree weather Saturday morning with Chuck Taylor during bootcamp. Teenager through seniors were there, enjoying FITNESS IN YOUR BACKYARD.

Join us! Check the schedule for sessions and locations and don’t be afraid: everything is modified for each and every attendee. Most important is that you come out and move that body!

Here’s a peek:

Wondering if EG2 meets during weather warnings?

We will do our best to text and/or email you, and post here, but since EG2 meets right in your backyard, try to make it – you know how the storm warnings in D.C. work – they may come, they may not. If it ends up that we cannot meet, you live right around the corner and at least you won’t have wasted gas.

Fitness in Your Backyard Starts NOW!

You’ve been asking for more fitness opportunities and your wish is our command!

Join us starting August 3 in YOUR BACKYARD … rather, in the Eastland Gardens/Kenilworth community for some varied fitness activities on your schedule.

Sessions are free and open to youth to seniors.

Attendees will practice yoga, Zumba, bootcamp, bicycling, nature walks and self-led exercise (and more) with a certified fitness instructor. All sessions will offer modifications for various levels and are open to all (beginner to advanced).

coach1Check this page daily for updates on where to meet and what session is going on and any changes. Email zumbawithz at gmail dot com to receive updates via email or send your cell phone number so you can get updates via text.

See you Thursday for our kick off class!

Ready, Set, ….

readyWe are happy to report that EG2 will be able to kick off this summer thanks to a grant
from the East of the River Family Strengthening Collaborative. The grant will allow guest instructors to teach tailored sessions in Zumba, yoga, stretching, walking, circuit training for kids to seniors residing in Ward 7. It will also provide T-shirts for the first few interested parties, water to stay hydrated during our workouts and even a gift card for the attendee who racks up the most classes with EG2.

We begin in August, so stay tuned right here for updates on our first fun gathering and interest session and following outdoor fitness sessions – right in your backyard! In the meantime, spread the word, tell your kids and tell your body its time to wake up!

Big thanks to the East of the River Family Strengthening Collaborative!

Welcome to your eastland gardens exercise group

Strength in numbers. Location, location, location. Convenience. Low- or no-cost.

These are just a few things that we need to be successful in maintaining a regular health and fitness schedule. And now, you’ve got it now with the Eastland Gardens Exercise Group, aka eg2

You are the leader in this exercise group You bring two movements, your neighbors bring movements and as you monitor and modify your exercise, you’re getting into a regular fitness groove in the comfort of your own neighbors and community.

Just meet us outside at the designated location and time and let’s get busy!

How EG2 Works …

1.) Make a commitment to meet up with your neighbors outside – walking distance from your home – in the a.m. or p.m. Arrive on time and stay for the duration OR come when you can and put in just a few minutes. Check the below sites for meeting times and places.

  • check this website OR
  • check the Eastland Gardens Civic Association listserv for meeting place

2.) Bring with you the following:

  • two exercise moves like pushups, leg lifts, planks (write them down if you’re afraid you’ll forget. Feel free to search the internet for moves best for you)
  • water
  • towel (optional)

3.) Meet new neighbors, sweat, feel great and repeat.
